DESCRIPTION:
Clock - Chelsea, World War I era military with "U.S. Navy Aeroplane Clock" marked dial, 8-day, chrome-plated base metal case measures 4.25 inch diameter across its mounting bracket, marked "February 1918" to its rear, black metal dial, SW-SS, lever escapement, 7J, gilt mvt, s#115395 with matching serial number to exterior of case. A scarce and attractive early military aircraft clock.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, gilt plates with some fine scratches, spots and discoloration; dial with some fine scratches, mild oxide spots and light surface wear; fine hands with areas of finish loss; case shows light wear, scattered fine scratches, some finish loss to front, gummy residue to rear of mounting bracket; crown shows light wear; good beveled glass crystal.
